Luke Fitzgerald has made a surprise return to the Leinster squad for the opening weekend of the European Champions Cup.

The Ireland winger is poised to make his first appearance of the season after being named on the bench for Leinster's clash with Wasps at the RDS on Sunday.

Rob Kearney remains out injured, which means that Ian Madigan must start at full back as Noel Reid partners Gordan D'Arcy in the centre.

In the pack, Mike McCarthy partners Devin Toner in the second row ahead of Kane Douglas.

There is no major surprises in the Munster team that will face Sale at the AJ Bell Stadium tomorrow.

Paul O'Connell returns to the second row, while Peter O'Mahony has been named at blindside flanker.

Andrew Smith and Denis Hurley will continue as the centre partnership.

Andrew Trimble has been ruled out of Ulster's trip to face Leicester this Saturday because of a toe injury.

Craig Gilroy will take Trimble's place on the wing, while Paddy Jackson has been cleared to return to duty and replaces Ian Humphreys at out-half.

Following the suspension to Alan O'Connor, Lewis Stevenson has been named in the Ulster second-row.

Team: L Ludik; T Bowe, J Payne, S McCloskey, C Gilroy; P Jackson, P Marshall; A Warwick, R Best (capt), W Herbst, L Stevenson, F vd Merwe, R Diack, C Henry, N Williams;
