There could still be a formal trophy presentation if Liverpool secure the Premier League title this season.

Players are due to resume training in groups no bigger than five on Tuesday under phase 1 of the Premier League's Project Restart document.

No contact will be allowed between players, and strict medical protocols will be in place.

It's hoped the English top flight can return behind closed doors in the second half of June.

When it does, Liverpool will still be only two games away from a first title in 30-years.

And despite no fans being allowed inside Anfield for the foreseeable future, they could still be afforded the chance to lift the trophy.

"If at all possible, we would like to have a presentation to give the players and staff the moment they have worked so hard for," Premier League chief executive Richard Masters told AP on Monday night.

"We don't want to lose that, unless it is not possible", Masters added.

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling said at the weekend it would need a month of full training before top flight players are ready for a return to action.

“(Once) we have had a proper discussion with clubs about how much is required to create the fitness levels before they can start playing, we are then in a position to be able to confirm when the season start is", Masters said.

However alien so-called ghost games may be, it's something everyone will have to get used to, according to Premier League medical adviser Mark Gillett.

"They’ve [UK government] made it very clear that the social situation, the public health situation is not going to change over the next six to 12 months", he said.

"We’re going to be looking to make the same kind of cultural changes at training grounds and in footballers’ behaviours whether we have this conversation now or at any point this year.

"It is important that people understand that."
