The war of words between Conor McGregor and Chad Mendes began in earnest last night as the two men took part in a conference call ahead of their fight next week.

The argument happened, 24 hours after Mendes replaced Aldo to fight McGregor after the Brazilian pulled out due to a rib injury.

Mendes told reporters he was confident of victory, telling them that he would win the fight in the first three minutes. He also spoke about his delight at the opportunity, stating that he could not turn down the fight despite the short notice.

Despite Aldo still holding the Featherweight title, McGregor announced that the fight should be for the title and the Brazilian should be stripped of the belt.

The Dublin fighter also stated that he wants to fight in the 3Arena in October. "You dont have a show in my hometown, without me on it" he told the press.

It was also announced during the call, that over 20% of the tickets sold for the fight in Las Vegas have been sold to Irish fans.

WARNING: The video contains some strong and explicit language.
