The animated adventure from Warner Bros. raked in more than $69.1 million, according to early estimates.

Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Channing Tatum, Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson and Jonah Hill are among stars who lent their voices to the project, written and directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

The actor directed and stars in the feature, about a team of people tasked with recovering artwork stolen by the Nazis. Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett and John Goodman also feature in the project.

Ride Along meanwhile came in third with close to $9.4 million.

The action comedy stars Kevin Hart and Ice Cube as Kevin's character goes on a 24-hour patrol of Atlanta with his brother-in-law in order to prove himself worthy of becoming part of the family.

Disney animated adventure Frozen landed at four with more than $6.9 million.

Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel are among stars lending their voices to the Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee-directed epic adventure, about a girl who traps a kingdom in an eternal winter storm.

The feature boasts a 12-week total of more than $913.7 million worldwide.

Rounding out the top five is Tom Gormican comedy That Awkward Moment, raking in more than $5.5 million.

The film stars Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller in the story of three men in their 20s who make a pact to stay out of serious relationships - only to find themselves hiding their new romances from one another.
