Leeds United have sacked manager Brian McDermott.

The former Reading boss has been removed from his position as Cagliari owner Massimo Cellino edges closer to acquiring a 75 per cent in the club.

Leeds made a strong start to the new Championship season but their form has dipped in recent weeks, failing to win in their last eight games which has seen the former Premier League side drift away from a promotion playoff place.
