It has been revealed this morning that a League of Ireland player has tested positive for a banned substance.
The Irish Sun report the the unnamed player failed the test, with cocaine believed to have been found in his system. The failed test is alleged to have taken place last month.
If the B sample is also found to be positive, the unnamed player will become the first since goalkeeper Barry Ryan to test positive for cocaine. Ryan was banned for nine months in 2003 when playing for Shamrock Rovers.

The FAI have failed to comment on the news.
