Man City 0 - 2 Newcastle
Manchester City's poor recent form continued as the reigning Capital One Cup champions were knocked out by Newcastle tonight at the Etihad.
Youngster Rolando Aarons gave Newcastle a 6th minute lead when he finished past goalkeeper Willy Caballero.
The Magpies added a second in the 75th minute when Moussa Sissoko dribbled into the box and poked the ball into the net.
Stoke 2 - 3 Southampton
Graziano Pelle's brilliant start to the season continued as his two goals helped Southampton beat Stoke 3 - 2 at the Britannia.
The Italy international gave the Saints the lead on 6 minutes with a beautifully curled effort from long range.
Ireland striker Shane Long increased the lead on the half hour mark when he added a finish from a Steven Davis pass.
But Stoke were level through by the 82 minute through a Steven N'Zonzi shot from 25 yards and a Mame Biram Diouf header.
But Pelle had the last word after Peter Crouch was sent off for a second yellow.
The striker finished from six yards from the resulting free-kick to send the in-form Saints through to the next round.
Tottenham 2 - 0 Brighton
Erik Lamela and Harry Kane were both on the scoresheet as Spurs saw off Brighton.
But they had to wait until the second half to go in front. Lamela slid in the opener on 54 minutes before Kane put more gloss on the scoreline with 15 minutes to go when he capitalised on a rebound.
