Southampton and England striker Rickie Lambert’s move to Liverpool is drawing closer following the player undergoing a medical at Melwood today.

Liverpool have reportedly agreed a fee of €4.9m for the player.

“The medical went well but as you know I can’t say anything. I’ll speak properly about it, hopefully, very shortly. It’s been a crazy football year to be honest, the way it’s carrying on,” Lambert said to Sky Sports News.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s pursuit of Lambert’s Southampton and England team-mate Adam Lallana continues, with a bid of €30 million reportedly on the table as the Anfield club’s final offer.

Liverpool are keen to wrap up both deals before the World Cup starts on June 12.
