The LA Galaxy team lead by Robbie Keane held a joint training session at Gannon Park Malahide United in North Dublin. Newstalk got exclusive access to the grounds and I got to meet the athletes and players.

Irish football captain Robbie Keane is asking us to get behind our Special Olympics athletes due to compete at the World Summer Games in Los Angeles in July from the 25th until the 3rd of August. Keane, Ireland’s most capped player of all time and top goal scorer (65) and his wife Claudine have signed up as ambassadors for Team Ireland ahead of this summer’s Games.

The Special Olympics is looking to raise around €440,000 to send 88 athletes to LA. Each athlete needs around €5,000, to help log onto specialolympics.ie
