Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Simon Mignolet will keep his place in goal for Monday's Merseyside derby at Everton.

Loris Karius was replaced by the Belgian for Wednesday's Premier League win at Middlesbrough, following weeks of criticism from pundits including Sky Sports' Gary Neville.

Klopp says he doesn't want to change his goalkeeper every week but has faith Karius will eventually show his quality.

"I don't want to change each week. That was not the plan," said the former Borussia Dortmund manager.

"Simon made a really good game, so he will be in goal for sure. I tried to explain it after the game. It was about not pushing Loris through the situation.

"He can use the time in training now and having no pressure -- only the pressure he makes himself with getting better. I know about how fantastic he is as a goalkeeper. Of course it's not enough if only I know about it.

"Simon did really well so there's nothing to think about, only if something happens and then we have Loris again."

Wednesday's 3-0 win at Middlesbrough lifted Liverpool to second in the table, just above Arsenal on goal difference.

They are now six points off Premier League leaders Chelsea as the busy winter period begins in earnest.
