The Kildare Ladies Gaelic Football team reclaimed their place in the senior ranks after capturing the All-Ireland Intermediate title last weekend.
It was a close shave against Clare who brought the contest back to within just one point before the hooter rang through Croke Park in what was Kildare's second consecutive All-Ireland appearance after suffering a heartbreaking defeat to Waterford in last year's decider.
Earlier in the year, it emerged that their goalkeeper Mary Hulgraine played through some of their championship campaign with a broken foot and it has since been revealed that another member of the Kildare panel has shown similar levels of resolve.
The Kildare LGFA published a notice on their Facebook page, documenting the story of Erica Burke who persavered through the pain of a broken bone to help Kildare over the line in the All-Ireland final.
