On the night that John O'Shea joined him as a select member of the 100 cap club, Kevin Kilbane believes the Waterford man deserves to have the spotlight shone on him.
Kilbane spoke to us on Off The Ball in the immediate aftermath of O'Shea's dramatic late equaliser against Germany in Gelsenkirchen and highlighted what the Sunderland player has brought to his country.
"We overlook sometimes the people that do great jobs for us. He's never going to be an eye-catching flair player. He's never going to beat players in the opposition area. But he's done a great job for us over the years in a few different positions and I think he's settled into a top centre-half from an organisational point of view. We needed someone to step up to the plate after Richard [Dunne] retired so hopefully he can be that man now," said Kilbane.
