Stephen Kenny’s phenomenal season in the Dundalk dugout has been rewarded with a contract extension up to 2015.

Dundalk are joint top of the League of Ireland Premier Division, level on points with St. Patrick’s Athletic, and through to the FAI Cup semi-final following Friday night’s 5-1 destruction of Shelbourne. This fine form hass compelled the Dundalk board to ensure Kenny remains at the club until at least 2015.

Dundalk Chairman Ciaran Bond said: “All Dundalk fans have been thrilled with the level of performances from the team this year. Stephen’s professionalism, work-rate and passion for the job have been a major factor in the club’s revival this year. The club will benefit from stability and reaching agreement with Stephen on a contract extension for a further year until the end of the 2015 season is a major boost to our long-term plans for the club.”

Kenny took over Dundalk following a torrid year for both himself and Dundalk last year. Kenny endured a miserable time as manager of Shamrock Rovers, while Dundalk came perilously close to ceasing to exist as financial woes mounted for the club.
