Keith Wood says Cian Healy should be given "every chance" to make it to the Rugby World Cup.

The Leinster prop's fitness has been a huge concern with Ireland staff monitoring his condition closely.

Despite the doubts, Wood told Off The Ball that Healy should be given every opportunity to be ready.

The former Ireland captain said: "100 per cent. Every chance that you possibly have. He might only be a week or 10 days late and that's fine because you know the quality that he has and you know you'll need that level of barnstorming capability. He's a world class operator, you need to hold on to them. If you had four Cian Healys that were injured or doubtful, you're starting to struggle then but for a one-off no problem."

The Irish Times' Gerry Thornley was also on tonight's show and feels that the competitive nature of the warm-up games will ramp up against Wales this weekend as Wales coming looking for a win with a stronger team.

"All the ingredients are there for this to be by some distance the proper first full-on test match of these warm-up games," he said, while he also explained why there should be three hookers, scrum-halves and three out-halves in World Cup squads, adding that he would be surprised if Madigan also covers scrum-half as well as other positions.
