Keith Wood feels the citing officer for the Mike Brown incident in England's win over Ireland "chickened out".

The England full-back avoided punishment over an incident from late in the match which left Conor Murray requiring stitches to his face.

"I have to say I thought the citing officer chickened out would be my view in relation to it. I believe there was a case to answer and I think that Brown would have got away with a yellow card and he wouldn't have had a suspension for it. But I think it would have made World Rugby look at that incident of kicking in around a ball inside of a ruck. It isn't part of the game. It has only become part of the game because you're allowed to use your feet in a ruck," said Keith as he and The Irish Times' Gerry Thornley joined Off The Ball.

On the development of the Ireland team, Keith feels the next generation of talent needs to be given a chance in the remaining Six Nations games, saying "I'd like to see a few more tested in the next couple of weeks. It is important that we win but I think we can win and test at the same time."

Among those tests that he would like to see are Jared Payne at 15 and further chances for Josh Van der Flier and Ultan Dillane.

Keith and Gerry also discussed the calls for tackling at schools rugby level to be banned.
