Athlone Town have confirmed former Stoke, Dundalk and St Pats player Keith Long as their new manager.

The UEFA PRO Licence holder replaces Mick Cooke who left the role yesterday.

He will be assisted by Eddie Wallace and his first game in charge will be against Bray this Friday.

The Midlanders sit bottom of the Airtricity league Premier division table having failed to win a game so far this season.
