Ireland captain Robbie Keane sat out this morning's Ireland training session at Malahide but only as a precaution according to goalkeeping coach Alan Kelly.
The LA Galaxy striker has an ankle injury after receiving a kick but is not a doubt for Friday nights World cup qualifier against the Germany in Cologne.
Whether he will start or not is an entirely different matter as caretaker manager Noel King may use a more modern formation than we were accustomed to under Giovanni Trapattoni.
A 4-5-1 with Keane as a lone striker would not suit his capabilities.
The squad will fly depart for Germany this afternoon to complete their preparations ahead of the match in Cologne.
