Robbie Keane has verbally agreed a contract extension with Los Angeles Galaxy.

The new deal with the MLS franchise is a two-year deal that could extend to a third year, which could keep the Dubliner in California up until the end of 2016.

Keane has scored 34 goals in 55 games for the Galaxy and was named in the 2012 MLS Best XI.

The Ireland captain will be among the players hoping to start the first game of the O'Neill era.
