Paul Pogba's much-anticipated return to Manchester United looks to be a step closer.

The French midfielder's current club Juventus have given permission for him to have a medical with the Premier League side.

Man United have confirmed that it will take place in a short statement on their website:

"Paul Pogba has been granted permission to have a medical in order to finalise his transfer from Juventus to Manchester United."

The Italian side's manager had summoned Pogba to training for Monday but according to reports, there has been a breakthrough in negotiations.

Pogba has been linked with a world record £100 million (€117 million) return to Old Trafford, where he made only a handful of appearance before moving in 2012.
