The 22 Jump Street actor appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Show and started his interview by saying he'd like to address something he wasn't proud of.

The audience whooped and laughed thinking the segment was a joke but Hill continued in his serious tone saying: “Unfortunately this isn’t a joke.”

Hill explained that he was confronted by a paparazzo over the weekend who started attacking him and his family personally.

He said was “genuinely hurt” by what he heard and in response said “the most hurtful word I could think of at that moment.”

It is reported Hill shouted, "Suck my d***, you f*****!" at one of the paparazzo.

“I didn’t mean this in the sense of the word, I didn’t mean it in a homophobic way,” he said.

“The word I chose was grotesque and no one deserves to say or hear words like that.”

Describing himself as a “supporter of the LGBTQ community”, Jonah has famously blasted Russia's anti-gay laws leading up to the Winter Olympics.

“My heart’s broken and I am genuinely and deeply sorry to anyone who has ever been affected by that term in their life.”
