Ireland high performance coach Billy Walsh has confirmed that John Joe Nevin is planning to turn professional.

Speaking to the Irish Daily Mail, Walsh said, "John Joe said he's going, we've done everything to keep him and we can't do any more."

The Olympic silver medallist said he would not comment on his plans until 'during the week'.

Last year, Nevin planned to turn professional and joined Amir Khan's promotions company before doing a u-turn.
