It's understood Olympic medal winning boxer John Joe Nevin is being treated in hospital for injuries to his leg following an incident in Mullingar this morning.

It happened in the Ardleigh area shortly after 11 o'clock this morning.

Gardai were called and are investigating the incident.

Nevin won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and began his professional career last month with a win.
