John Hardiman looks to have pulled out of the running to be the new Galway hurling manager.

The job is currently vacant after previous manager Anthony Cunningham left in contentious circumstances amidst reports of a player revolt against him.

According to Galway Bay FM however, it seems that Hardiman will not be going forward in the selection process.

As a former Minor and U21 manager, he had been placed as the early favourite for the job, so his decision to leave the race is an unexpected one.

The annual convention of the Galway County Board took place on Monday night, where it was revealed that chairman Noel Treacy had not heard any rumours of unrest among the squad until after Cunningham was reinstated in October. Interviews to find a replacement are scheduled to take place in the wake of that meeting.
