John Giles believes Chelsea and Jose Mourinho have behaved badly in their pursuit of John Stones.

The club have put in a number of bids for the promising Everton defender, while the England international has also had a transfer request rejected.

John was on Off The Ball tonight as always on a Thursday and he feels Chelsea are in the wrong in the manner in which they have pursued a deal.

"He's under contract to the club and I think Chelsea have behaved under Mourinho very badly in this particular case. Mourinho has let it known very, very publicly that he wanted Stones. He had Cahill in the paper saying he'd be a great signing - and John Terry as well. You're not supposed to do that. You're not allowed to do that. The laws of the game don't allow you to tap up players and he's doing it very, very publicly," said John, who feels that the public nature of Chelsea's pursuit has turned Stones' head.

He also advises the defender to stay at Everton to develop for another couple of years of regular football. John also praised Stones' Everton team-mate Seamus Coleman for "appreciating what he has" despite interest in him from other Premier League clubs.

John also gave his take on Wayne Rooney's form, Manchester United's issues and Celtic's "bleak" future on tonight's show.
