John Giles says that Roy Keane's chances of getting another managerial job have been revived by his time as Ireland assistant manager.

Despite disappointing spells with Sunderland and Ipswich, Keane has admitted that he still harbours ambitions of a return to management in the future.

He has indicated that he remains focused on helping Ireland to compete at Euro2016, but won't commit to the job beyond next summer.

Giles believes that Martin O'Neill can take huge credit for rescuing Keane's reputation as a coach as he told Off The Ball tonight.

"I think Martin would obviously want him to stay but what Roy is saying is 'I'll get back into management at some stage' and he's talking about probably next year. You don't what's going to happen next year. Martin might step down and he might take over the Irish team or he might take another job and come back. You never know what's going to happen. But definitely the Irish job as assistant manager has been very good to Roy Keane because before that, there weren't a load of clubs chasing him and it's been successful, Martin has been very complimentary to him and some clubs will always be looking for a new manager."
