The 32-year-old parted ways with Queens Park Rangers after the London club's relegation from the Premier League and will now spend a year in the Championship with fellow relegated side Burnley.

Barton had appeared close to a move to West Ham during the summer window, only for the Hammers to pull back on the deal due to reservations from some players, as confirmed by West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan.
