Joe Canning has tipped Kilkenny to win the All-Ireland hurling final on Sunday but feels the contest against Tipperary is almost too close to call.

The Galway hurling star and ex-Tipperary hurler Tommy Dunne joined Off The Ball to look ahead to the battle for the Liam McCarthy Cup.

"It's very hard to call really. As everybody's been talking [about] from the last couple of weeks, the Michael Fennelly factor of Kilkenny probably missing him is a huge bonus for Tipperary," he said.

"But at the same time, it's very hard to call. To be straight up about it, I think Kilkenny myself but you just don't know. In All-Ireland finals in the last number of years when they've played each other, there's been very little between the teams."

Canning feels the goal count will be huge factor for Tipperary if they are to beat Kilkenny.

"That's the biggest thing for me. You look back a few years ago and Tipperary didn't take their goal chances in 2009 and Kilkenny won the game. If you can target getting a couple of goals early on, it's always a good start."
