Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez has been ruled out of the World Cup.

The England international faces six months on the sidelines after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in Saturday's Premier League defeat to Manchester City.

Rodriguez made his national team debut in November's friendly against Chile and had been tipped for a place in Brazil this summer.
