Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has lost his appeal against the red card he received in the Premier League draw with Stoke on Saturday.

The England international will now be banned for games against Everton, West Ham and Middlesbrough.

He will be available to return for Leicester's FA Cup third-round tie on the seventh of January.

Vardy was shown the red card for a challenge on Stoke forward Mame Biram Diouf in the 2-2 draw after just 28 minutes.

Without Vardy, Leicester went 2-0 down before fighting back in the final 16 minutes through goals from Leandro Ulloa and Daniuel Amartey.

The reigning Premier League champions are now 15th in the table, three points above the relegation zone.

Vardy had returned to goalscoring form prior to the Stoke game, having hit a hat-trick in the 4-2 win over Manchester City.
