Portugal will take on Ireland's conquerors Sweden for a place in the World Cup finals after the FIFA playoff draw was made in Switzerland.

While Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will captain their respective countries in that two-legged tie, France will take on Ukraine.

It is the second World Cup in succession that the French will need a playoff to qualify. Last time out, Thierry Henry's controversial handball helped to knock Ireland out at the same stage. 

Greece have been drawn against Romania, while playoff newcomers Iceland will play Croatia.

The first legs will be played on Friday November 15th, with the returns on Tuesday November 19th.
