Shane Long has been ruled out of Ireland's Euro 2016 playoff first leg.

The striker "will not be involved in Friday’s first leg as he will remain at Southampton for further treatment on his ankle injury" according to the Football Association of Ireland.

However, the 28-year-old who sustained the injury in the final qualifier match against Poland last month, has not been ruled out of Monday's second leg.

Meanwhile, Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Stephen Henderson has been called into the squad to replace Sheffield Wednesday's Kieren Westwood, who has an ankle problem.
