Italy have left out back row Sergio Parisse for Saturday's Six Nation match against Ireland.

The Italian rugby federation has confirmed that the No 8 has been rested as a "precaution".

Robert Barbieri of Benetton Treviso replaces him in the starting team.

Fit-again second-row Marco Bortolami will take over the captaincy.

There is an all-new half-back pairing from the defeat to Scotland two weeks ago as Luciano Orquera and Tito Tebaldi replace Tommaso Allan and Edoardo Gori.

Italy have yet to win a game in this season's championship, although they did beat Ireland in last year's Six Nations match at Rome's Stadio Olimpico.

Joe Schmidt named his Ireland team with Peter O'Mahony the only absentee from the starting XV.

Starting XV: Luke McLean, Angelo Esposito, Michele Campagnaro, Gonzalo Garcia, Leonardo Sarto, Luciano Orquera, Tito Tebaldi, Alberto de Marchi, Leonardo Ghiraldini, Martin Castrogiovanni, Quintin Geldenhuys, Marco Bortalami, Josh Furno, Paul Derbyshire, Robert Barbieri
