Róisín McGettigan is to be retrospectively awarded a European medal next month.

The Wicklow runner will be presented with a bronze for the 1500-metres from the 2009 European Indoor Championships after winner Anna Alminova was banned for a doping offense.

The now-retired McGettigan finished fourth in the original race in Turin, and will receive the medal at next week's National Athletics Awards.
