Donal Og Cusack's decision to join the Clare backroom team for 2016 is continuing to cause waves in the hurling world.

The three time All Ireland winner with Cork joined Davy Fitzgerald's backroom team which also sees Aonghus O'Brien join as a coach.

Jamesie O'Connor is a two time All Ireland winner with Clare and spoke to Oisin Langan about Cusack's move from Cork to their Munster rivals.

"I dont think anybody in Clare saw this coming. He is an astute student of the game. I thought he brought a lot of intelligence and insight as an analyst. When Davy asked the question I imagine he has ambition of taking the Cork job. Who wouldn't grasp the opportunity to work with Tony Kelly, Podge Collins, David McInerney, Conor McGrath and some of the players that Clare have?"

O'Connor doesn't think that Fitzgerald and Cusack will clash despite two strong personalities.

"They are two people with strong opinions and different views on how things should translate at that level. Change is good. ."

Clare's Munster Championship season begins next summer with a Provincial semi-final against Waterford.
