Ireland's Kevin Phelan will have to complete his opening round at the Tshwane Open tomorrow morning after play had to be suspended in South Africa this evening.

Phelan was just two shots off the lead on 5-under par after 14 holes of his round when he was called back into the clubhouse.

Shane Lowry is also well placed after he earlier carded a 4-under par 68 today while Michael Hoey finished his round on 3 under.

Elsewhere, Padraig Harrington has made a promising start to his challenge at this week's Honda Classic in Palm Beach where four Irish players are in action.

Harrington is on 2-under par after 12 holes, which leaves him three shots behind leaders Tommy Gainey and Rory Sabbatini.

Darren Clarke is struggling on 5-over par after 14 holes.

Rory McIlroy will tee-off at around 5.25pm and Graeme McDowell also starts shortly after that.
