Christina Desmond and Ken Okungbowa have claimed at least double bronze at the World University Championships in Thailand today.

The Cork middleweight and Athlone heavyweight beat Kazakh and Lithuanian opponents respectively.

The verdicts guarantee Irish boxing its first medals at this level.

Okungbowa was awarded two of the three rounds against Tadas Tamasauskas.

Desmond won all three rounds against Zura Kussainova.
