The IRFU have reportedly blocked an attempt by Munster to sign Australia captain Stephen Moore.

In the wake of the injuries last weekend for Mike Sherry and Duncan Casey, the province's need for a high-profile hooker has become even more pressing and the42.ie reports that Munster had already secured the blessing of the Brumbies in Australia to sign Moore until the IRFU vetoed the move.

IRFU performance director David Nucifora has to sign-off on every transfer involving players or coaches in Ireland.
