Ireland Under 19's have missed out on advancing to the Elite phase of qualifying for the UEFA European Championships.

Paul Doolin's side only needed to avoid defeat to Scotland this evening to reach the next round, but they were trounced by their guests in a 4-0 scoreline at the Markets Field in Limerick.

Ireland got off to disappointing start as Scotland's Ryan Hardie found the net after just two minutes of play:

Two further goals in a six minutes spell midway through the first half had Ireland on the ropes and Scotland added a fourth on 67 minutes.

Slovenia, who beat Ireland on November 13th and have already won two from two, lead the group on six points along with Scotland.
