Ireland's Six Nations match with France ended in disappointment as Declan Kidney's men squandered a 10 point advantage as they settled for a draw at the Aviva Stadium.

Ireland led France 13 - 3 at the halfway stage with French No 10 Frederic Michalak only kicking one from three.

Ireland got off to a fine start in the rain as captain Jamie Heaslip scored a try in the 11th minute and Paddy Jackson made no mistake with the conversion.

The Ulster outhalf missed his first penalty attempt but he followed that up with two superb long range efforts.

However France rallied in the second half as Morgan Parra kicked a penalty with Louis Picamoles going over for a late French try.

After a poor performance Michalak stepped up to put over the conversion which drew France level.

The result leaves Ireland fourth in the table with three points while France picked up their first point of the Championship, although they remain rock bottom.
