For a long time at Arsenal, it was evident that the Gunners were in sore need of a defensive midfielder.
Most fans and analysts were looking outside the club, seeing as Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini proved relatively ineffective.
However, a forgotten player who was out on loan at Championship side Charlton has proved to be the answer - in the short-term at least.
