Earlier this week, Chelsea captain John Terry did not bother to hide his disdain for former Premier League footballer turned pundit Robbie Savage.

Terry said he would not accept criticism from an ex-player of Savage's standing, whereas he would have no problem taking flak from more illustrious names.

Ger put Terry's comments to John Giles on Off Thet Ball tonight and the former Leeds and Ireland midfielder backed the Chelsea defender.

"I don't think he was joking at all and quite rightly too I must say. I'd have to agree with him entirely when he said that when [Jamie] Carragher criticises him or [Gary] Neville and Rio Ferdinand, they were all top defenders. I've seen Savage - well, I switch him off most of the time when he's on the telly - he wasn't much of a player and he was always controversial."

He also feels that the "worst thing you can do to Robbie Savage is to ignore him" but admits that it is "difficult" to ignore everything.
