The way the Premier League is going for West Ham, Sam Allardyce will not have to change his surname to Allardici to earn praise.

The former Bolton, Newcastle and Blackburn manager has led the Hammers to fourth so far this season, heights the club has not experienced in years - with the added bonus of exciting football.

It has quelled the supporter discontent which had often followed Allardyce around Upton Park in recent seasons.

Guardian journalist and Hammers fan Jacob Steinberg joined us on the line to put some context on results and how West Ham supporters feel about the manager in light of their new style and position in the table.

"I think now that people have started to realise what Allardyce can bring when he's given a bit of time, I think it's like any manager. They need time to get their ideas across. Sometimes it's hard for supporters to realise that," said Steinberg.
