Mayo manager James Horan admitted that it is easier to guage his own team's standards after tighter games.
The reigning Connacht champions reached another provincial decider after brushing aside Roscommon 0-21 to 0-9 yesterday.
Speaking to Newstalk Breakfast's Oisin Langan, Horan explained that Roscommon put up a great challenge early on but was happy with the way in which his team dealt with the pressure.
"Roscommon definitely started well. They had momentum and were equal to us on breaking ball for the first five or ten minutes. But our defending was very, very good," he said.
"We got turnovers and that gave us the momentum and gave us a platform to build on from there."
