Bolton Wanderers have signed veteran striker Emile Heskey on a short-term deal.
The Championship side still have to secure international clearance before the 36-year-old can play for them after a spell in Australia.
Heskey had been training with the Trotters and made an appearance for their under-21 side on Monday, playing 63 minutes of the loss to Reading.
The former England international, who appeared 62 times for his country, had been playing with Australian A-League side Newcastle Jets before his release in April.
Bolton boss Neil Lennon was a team-mate of Heskey’s at Leicester during the reign of current Ireland manager Martin O’Neill.
Heskey has also played for Liverpool, Birmingham, Wigan and Aston Villa.
