A new era for European club rugby is expected to be announced today.
After two days of final negotiations, it is believed that a new European Rugby Champions Cup will be unveiled as the successor to the Heineken Cup today.
The 20-team competition will be run by a new governing body that will be based in Switzerland and it will feature six teams from the Aviva Premiership and the Top 14, plus seven clubs from the Pro 12.
There will also be one play-off qualifier.
A new second tier and third tier competition that will be aimed at expanding European club rugby into the likes of Georgia, Russia, Spain, Romania and Portugal is also set to be revealed.
