Rob Heffernan has been named as the Irish Athlete of the Year at today's National Athletics Awards in Dublin.
The Cork native has been recognised for his gold medal victory at the World Championships in Moscow where he won the men's the 50k Race Walk
Heffernan was also awarded the Race Walker of the Year Award at today's ceremony, while Fionnuala Britton claimed the Endurance Athlete Award and Donegal's Mark English was named as the Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
Ciaran O’Lionaird won the Indoor Athlete Award for his bronze medal win at the European Indoors in Sweden.
