Harry Redknapp looks set to come out of retirement and enter international football management for the first time as a 69-year-old.

The former West Ham United and Portsmouth manager looks set to be named as Jordan's manager ahead of their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bangladesh and Australia. Redknapp will also be working with Derby County in an advisory role.

Redknapp's last managerial job came at QPR when he resigned at manager in February last year. After Fabio Capello's resignation as England manager in 2012, Redknapp was seen as the popular choice to replace the Italian before Roy Hodgson was appointed to the job. His stint in charge of the Jordanians will be Redknapp's first in international football.

Speaking to The Sun, Redknapp revealed he took the job with the World-ranked 82nd best team due to his relationship with former FIFA Presidential candidate Prince Ali. "He asked me if I’d manage the team for a couple of matches and I agreed."

Jordan are currently in second place, two points behind Australia in the AFC Group B. The two teams meet in Sydney on March 29th.
