The half-sister of Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore has been discovered dead in her car in California.

It has been reported that she died from a suspected suicide as pills were scattered on the passenger seat of her car.

She was discovered by a neighbour who was blocked in by Ms Barrymore's car. When she couldn't wake Ms Barrymore she alerted the emergency services.

The 47-year-old was just days away from her 48th birthday.

Both Jessica and Drew are daughters of actor John Drew Barrymore. 

The Barrymore family hasn't commented on her death.
