Arsenal are up to second in the Premier League table following their 4-1 thrashing of Liverpool, which has dented the Reds' hopes of Champions League football, perhaps irreparably.

The Gunners have moved to within four points of leaders Chelsea having played two games more.

Hector Bellerin opening the scoring eight minutes before the break with a tidy finish having cut inside the area from the right, before Mesut Ozil curled home a lovely free-kick ahead of half-time.

There was time ahead of the interval though for Alexis Sanchez to fire home a third.

Jordan Henderson pulled one back from the penalty spot in the second half but by then Arsenal were in cruise control.

To add to Liverpool's misery Emre Can was sent off minutes before the final whistle for a foul on Danny Welbeck, and Olivier Giroud added a fourth in stoppage time.
