Former Rangers player and manager Graeme Souness says the club's promotion to the Scottish Premiership will improve rivals Celtic.

The Ibrox outfit had to start again in the fourth tier following liquidation in 2012.

They have now made it back to the top flight after last night's win over Dumbarton secured the Championship title.

Souness told Sky Sports News, that Rangers' promotion will ultimately be good for both Old Firm sides.

"Celtic in Van Dyke, Wanyama, Forster, three of their better players if not their best players, have gone. Do Celtic sell them if Rangers are still a challenge? No, which means the quality of football that Celtic supporters are watching has diminished. Don't take my word for it. Look at the gates at Celtic Park."
